Gods and Mortals – Ancient Egypt at the National Museum of Transylvanian History

The Challenge

For over 100 years, the National Museum of Transylvanian History has housed a stunning collection of Egyptian artifacts.
The goal was to create an exhibition showcasing these treasures, including a preserved human mummy and mummified
animal organs, but the process was complex, involving conservation efforts, scientific discoveries, and architectural planning.

We filmed the entire two-year journey: from CT scans to conservation work, from expert interviews to behind-the-scenes moments
of preparation. We documented the passion and dedication required to bring these artifacts to life in a new exhibition space.

We used:
Footage that takes you behind the scenes of the painstaking restoration and preparation.
Interviews that reveal the passion, challenges, and breakthroughs in bringing the ancient Egyptian artifacts to life.
A narrative that not only tells the story of the artifacts but also the incredible journey they took to be showcased in this once-in-a-lifetime exhibition.

The Result

A documentary that immerses you in the process—from the delicate care of ancient relics to the creation of a world-class exhibition.
A film that brings science, history, and craftsmanship together, showing the dedication and expertise required to preserve and present Egypt’s ancient past.
An enduring piece of work that now stands as both a record of the exhibition’s creation and an essential archive for the museum’s future.
